Our Family Farm
The Barker family have farmed at Lodge Farm, Cundall for three generations - this year will be the fourth generations first pumpkin season! As a working family farm we spend most of our year growing cereal crops including wheat, barley and oil seed rape.
We first grew pumpkins in 2018 and we love seeing families return each year! Rob and David grow all our pumpkins here in the field you pick them in. The process starts in February when Rob pours over seeds catalogues to find even more new varieties he wants to try - this year there are over 70! We drill the pumpkin seeds in May, and then carefully tend to them through to October when they're ready for you to come and pick them where they've grown. If you've got any pumpkin growing questions do ask them when you see them on the patch!
You'll find Caroline busy baking or in our pumpkin cafe, whilst Jen runs everything in the background, alongside bringing up the 4th generation of Barkers to farm here at Lodge Farm!
